LEDUC, AB, December 12, 2022 – PBG BioPharma Inc., a Phytochemical Biopharmaceutical Group company, announced today that it has received Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000) for manufacturing of its GMP standard CBD ingredient and CBD-infused food products. FSSC 22000 is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

FSSC 22000 was developed in response to customer demands for a recognizable standard against which a food safety and quality management system can be audited and certified. It provides assurance to those in the consumer goods food chain that the food products produced by the facility are manufactured safely following a rigorous system. In addition, it ensures a HACCP plan is in place for cannabinoid products manufactured in-house. To be recognized as a world-class licensed processor of cannabis products, it is imperative that our production processes meet the highest quality standards.
The Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000) is overseen by an independent global non-profit, Foundation FSSC 22000, governed by an independent Board of Stakeholders. The organization offers complete certification programming for the auditing and certification of Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and Quality Management Systems (FSSC 22000-Quality).
